It has been 8 years of success for RubySkye, and once again they are out doing themselves. Last years Anniversary party consisted of Donald Glaude, the Scumfrog and Dubfire from Deep Dish. This year its Tiesto, Derrick Carter, Felix Da Housecat, and Ferry Corsten, holy shit this is HUGE. What are they going to do next year? Moby and Oakenfold? RubySkye has proven to everyone that they know how to consistently put on a great show and run a nightclub at the highest professional level. Every weekend they continue to bring out big world class musical talent to SF. Weather if its a win or a loss, they are not afraid of taking risk on expensive acts. On the other hand the way they deal with DJs and promoters is setting precidence across the industry. Not to mention they have an incredible staff as well. With events like the Sasha and Digweed Yacht party at the Winter Music Conference in Miami they are showing the world that they are truely first class. Thank You Rubyskye for continuing to produce top events with great musical talent weekend after weekend. Moreover Thank You for inviting me to spin at another one of your incredible Anniversary parties, it is an honor.
So here is how the evening is going to play, M3 opens the room, then Derrick Carter takes over till around 2am, then I get on the decks to make the slow transition from underground house to prog and trance. I actually wont play trance, ill slowly move into techno and some electro while i bring up the pace. Then Ferry Corsten will take over the decks and take the event all the way till the morning [Bars re-open at 6am].
Derrick Carter is known to many as #1 House DJ in the world. Dont take my word for it, ask the guys who are at the top of the game like Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Dennis Ferrer, Diz, Marques Wyatt. Eventhough he is totally underground and doesnt market or promote himself, all the true old school heads know he is one of the many responsible for the movement. Derrick Carter was one of the original Chicago house heads that helped make house as big as it is today. Thats why he is known as #1, because of the respect the industry has for his services to the movement. The man doesnt even have a website or a myspace page with his gig schedule. The man is truely underground, you never know when you can catch him and thats how he likes it. Believe me i tried to build him a website but he always turns me down. Ferry Corsten to me is the #1 Trance DJ in the world. I know Armin is currently #1, and Tiesto has been filling up stadiums. But back in 1998-2000 when trance hit its height in popularity, Tiesto was creating a lot of good stuff but Ferry Corsten had all the hits. Hit after hit, many that all you know but didnt know it was Ferry. Like the song "Out of the Blue", even wild 94.9 was playing that song!!! I know, cause i used to spin trance back then, Ferry was the shit and will allways be the top gun of Trance.
