This is my review of the 2009 Lovevolution / Lovefest / Love Parade weekend in San Francisco Oct 1st - Oct 4th 2009. I have been to Lovefest every year, since it was called the Love Parade. By far this year has been the most packed it has ever been. Just goes to show you no matter how many times you change its name, people will remember an awesome event like this.
So why was it so much more packed than previous years? Even with the name change, the state of the economy, smaller scale dj lineup, less floates or incresed entrance fee (previous years it was a $5 donation). Some would think numbers should have been down, no? To me I believe the event got much more major international and national publicity than previous years. I mean think about it, most festivals of this magnitude in the US cost $50 - $100 entrance fees, even higher prices in Europe. Its all about the Love and the word of love spreads fast. So everyone got to come to a huge event with world famous djs that is $10 practically free, since it costs more to get into a night club with a local lineup these days. I think that contributed to people traveling from all over the US to come to this event. I had a shit load of friends Southern California, a bunch from Detroit and NY. Even friends from Mexico came down.
Now this year that wasnt necessarily a good thing. The event was way to packed and that made it hard to move around. It took me 45 minutes to get across the place. All phones were useless, everyone was trying to call their friends but couldnt get through. I couldnt even find my friends, i couldnt even find my buddys float. Holy shit.
The most memorable DJs of this years Lovevolution / Lovefest... Lee Burridge, Sharam, Danny Howells, Craig Richards, Deadmau5, Groove Armada, Fisherspooner,...
