Saturday August 18th [10pm - dawn]
along with DJs Garth, Rooz, Darry
If you tell a friend who has been a DJ for a while (not some noob who has turntables with 20 records), that DJ Harvey is in town spinning at an underground, the response youll get is most probably a "no waaaay" or "whaaaaaat". They all know its a rare occassion, I mean the man only plays certain gigs. So we are honored to have him on the same night as I celebrate my 3 year Anniversary with Back2Basics.
Legend is a word that is often abused to describe a pioneer. In case of Harvey, it is appropriate. Known as a DJ's DJ and a hedonists sanctuary, in his home town of London, England, he is considered a founding father In electronic music community. With Friday and Saturday nights residency in London's Ministry of Sound, he was responsible for one of UK's original underground Parties called The Tonka Sound System . The infamous warehouse party that also shaped Garth's talent and expertise as a member.
We are prowd to announce a really exciting show with one of the legends of underground electronic music, DJ Harvey. Many of you might have not heard his name, but ask a dj or any old school house music enthusiast. Back in the old days in London, all there was was mega club, Ministry of Sound and Harvey was the first MOS resident DJ. Later he was known for his long sets at Fabric (voted #1 club in the world by DJMag.com). All the big underground DJs around were inspired by his music, as they grew up listening to his sets. Now you can rarely catch Harvey spin cause he only does certain sets. I was lucky to catch him at WMC last year, at the huge party at Pawn Shop on Sunday night. Dont miss this rare ocasion to see Harvey spin a 4 hr set at an underground in SF.
